This
section aims to point you in the right direction for
places where you, your family and friends can go and
ride your bikes off-road and start enjoying the adventures
that Northern Ireland has to offer.
There are lots of places to go with the family, kids
or youngsters offering a variety of terrain and experiences.
This ranges from woodlands and parkland to lakeside
trails and enduring towpaths. Go to the family off-road
trails section for details of easy low-level mountain biking.
Unfortunately Northern Ireland has not yet developed
a series of mountain biking centres like the Coed
Y Brenin's of Wales or the Glentress's or Innerleithen's of Scotland.
Purpose built mountain bike trails are few but CAAN
is working with a range of partners to get a several
high standard tracks and trails up and running in
the next couple of years. Click on the 'X-Country'
or 'Downhill' sections for details of what's available
now and updates on what's planned in the next few years.
Despite this lack of formally developed facilities
the local mountain biking scene is buzzing. Local
riders all have lots of favourite places to play for
a quick half hour or ride for a full day pushing ability
fitness levels to the test. Click on the Other
Rides' section to find out what local riders are up to and where.
Also visit the ;Off Road Adventures' section of the
website - read riders stories and testimonials or add your own.
Where ever you ride at whatever level please adhere
to IMBA's Rules of the Trail .. so get out there, spread the word.. and have fun!!!
